Undermining the Word of God: The New Priesthood of "Interpretive Elites"

Many modern voices claiming to support faith and truth are, in fact, subtly reviving a spiritual control mechanism used by the Roman Catholic Church during the Dark Ages. One such example is Mike Adams, who, while attacking institutional religion and claiming to promote free thinking, ironically promotes a model where the average believer is told they cannot understand the Bible without access to secret knowledge, linguistic expertise, or his own AI-powered insights.

The Roman Catholic Precedent

During the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church insisted that the Bible remain in Latin. The common people, who did not understand Latin, were told that they could not interpret Scripture on their own. Instead, they had to rely on a priestly class to interpret the Word of God for them. This effectively placed the Church as a mediator between man and God, denying believers direct access to the Scriptures.

What followed was spiritual darkness, manipulation, and a complete suppression of biblical truth. Only with the work of men like William Tyndale, who translated the Bible into English at the cost of his life, did light begin to break through.

This is not enlightenment. It is gatekeeping. It is the establishment of a new priesthood—one that wears the robes of technology, linguistic elitism, and spiritual relativism. In the end, it serves the same purpose: to keep the Word of God out of the hands of the common man.

Private Interpretation and False Prophets

The Bible warns against private interpretation:

"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation." (2 Peter 1:20, KJV)

By claiming that the English Bible cannot be trusted, Adams positions himself as a mediator of special knowledge. He replaces trust in God’s preserved Word with trust in his own voice and tools.

In doing so, he falls squarely into the biblical pattern of the false prophet—those who undermine the authority of Scripture while drawing men after themselves.

Scripture Is Sufficient

The King James Bible is not a corrupt political document. It is a faithful and preserved translation of God’s Word. God promised:

"The words of the LORD are pure words... Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." (Psalm 12:6-7, KJV)

Adams says you can’t just read your KJV and believe it. God says you can.

So-Called Contradictions

Adams points to apparent contradictions in the Gospels, like differing resurrection details or genealogies. These have long been explained:

• Different witnesses mention different individuals—not mutually exclusive.

• The resurrection accounts reflect multiple perspectives of real, overwhelming events.

The Danger of Undermining Scripture

Once someone convinces you that the Bible isn’t reliable in your own language, you are at their mercy. They can then insert their own interpretations, philosophies, and systems. This is how cults form. This is how Roman tyranny was justified. And this is how new false religions are born today—dressed up in freedom, but built on bondage.

God’s Word vs. Human Wisdom

While Adams calls people to observe nature, study civilizations, and listen to inner impressions, he subtly suggests these are better or more reliable than Scripture itself. This devalues the unique, revealed Word of God and places it on par with man-made traditions and perceptions.

But the Bible says:

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17, KJV)

Not by archaeology. Not by intuition. Not by AI. By the Word of God.

The Reformation gave us direct access to the Bible for a reason. God wants every person—regardless of education, language, or status—to read His Word and be taught by His Spirit. The attempt to undermine that by reintroducing an elite interpretive class—whether religious or technological—is not progress. It’s apostasy.
