The Unfolding of Prophecy: Division and Betrayal in the Last Days

Introduction

The end times, as prophesied in the King James Bible, are marked by escalating division, betrayal, and loss of natural affection—manifesting not only between nations and rulers, but also in families, communities, and everyday relationships. What occurs at the highest levels of geopolitics is echoed in the microcosm of towns, families, and even within households. This pattern is a key sign that we are living in the period Jesus called "the beginning of sorrows," rapidly approaching the great tribulation.

Macro and Micro: The Prophetic Pattern

Scripture reveals that the same spiritual forces at work in world events will also permeate local life, leading to a universal breakdown of trust and peace. Jesus warned that the end would not only bring wars between nations, but also betrayal and hatred between individuals.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

—Matthew 24:10-13, KJV

And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

—Revelation 6:3-4, KJV

And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

—Zechariah 14:13, KJV

From Nations to Families: Prophecy in Daily Life

This same spirit of division and violence that sweeps the globe will also break out at the most intimate levels of human relationship. Betrayal and conflict will occur within families, destroying trust and peace even in the home.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

—Micah 7:5-6, KJV

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

—Matthew 10:35-36, KJV

The Beginning of Sorrows: Signs of the Great Tribulation

The escalation of division, betrayal, and loss of peace at every level is a sign that we are entering the period of the great tribulation foretold in prophecy.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

—Matthew 24:7-8, KJV

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

—Matthew 24:21, KJV

Conclusion

The pattern unfolding before our eyes—division between nations, conflict within communities, and betrayal among families—is not coincidence, but fulfillment of biblical prophecy. The same spirit of lawlessness and hatred operates at every level of society, confirming that the time of great tribulation is drawing near. True believers are called to watch, pray, and endure, standing fast in faith as the love of many grows cold and peace is removed from the earth.
