Romans 10:9-14
Chapter summary
CHAP. X.
5 The Scripture sheweth the difference betwixt the righteousnes of the Law, and this of faith, 11 and that all both Iew and Gentile that beleeue, shal not be cōfounded, 18 and that the Gentiles shall receiue the word and beleeue. 19 Israel was not ignorant of these things.
Bible verses
(Romans 10:9-14 [KJV])
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
My commentary
We can see above in chapter summary that all both Jew and Gentile that believe shall not be confounded. We can also see in verse 13 that whosoever call upon the name of the lord shall be saved. But then in verse 14 we see that if they have not believed on the lord Jesus Christ then they cannot call upon him. So even here in Romans 10 salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone not of works least anyone should boast.
Also we can see, verse 14, that if you call upon the name of the lord and have not believed then you are not saved and your prayer is not heard.
