Notice the bible version issue regarding Matthew 5:37.

Let your yes be yes in modern versions while in the king james let your communication be ye ye.

So works are added for the modern version believer because he has to be careful what he says yes to while for the kjv believer it tells him to shut up and just say yes or no.

But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.
