FAQ:Who are Gods elect?
Who are Gods elect?
Romans 8:28-31 KJV
[28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
[29] For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
[30] Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
[31] What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
So it's clear from scripture that there are those who are foreknown by God.
I interpret this as that since God the Father can know things before they happen he can foreknow who will come to faith in his Son in their lifetime.
Romans 8:32-33 KJV
[32] He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
[33] Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
So Gods elect are believers.
Some people might say.
-Well I know a believer and he ended up in prison or I know a believer and he got cancer or I know a believer and he is suffering. How can you say that all things work out for good to the elect if this man or woman is part of the elect?
-I can say that because the believers go to heaven. The suffering that we can experience here on earth is like the blink of an eye compared to the time we will spend in heaven. So yes, all things work out for good to the elect. All things work out for good to the believers, because they go to heaven when they die.
So I believe basically that God has the supernatural ability to foreknow who will come to faith in their lifetime and these are the people that God calls the elect.
This does not take away from that its good to preach the gospel. Its good for eternal rewards and for gaining wisdom.
(Proverbs 11:30 [KJV]) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
