FAQ:Is every believer an evangelist?

Intro

Every believer does not have the spiritual gift of an evangelist.

(Acts 21:8 [KJV]) And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Cæsarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.

Philip the evangelist. Not every believer has the title the evangelist in the bible so not every believer is an evangelist.

(I Corinthians 12:27-31 [KJV])
 [27] Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
 [28] And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
 [29] Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
 [30] Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
 [31] But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

In 1cor12 spiritual gifts are mentioned but evangelists are not mentioned. That might be because an evangelist is not set in the church generally but rather outside of the church in order to get unbelievers saved.

So not every believer is an evangelist.

But every believer should be able to share the gospel.

(I Peter 3:15 [KJV]) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Our hope is that the Lord Jesus Christ has saved us eternally so that when we die, no matter what happens here on earth before then, we go to heaven. This is our hope and this we should share with people when they ask us of our hope.

Also the gospel is part of the whole armor of God.

(Ephesians 6:12-18 [KJV])
 [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
 [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
 [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
 [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
 [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
 [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
 [18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

As we can see in Ephesians 6:15, the gospel is part of the full armor of God.

So its wise for a believer to preach the gospel.

(Proverbs 11:30 [KJV]) The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

and to win souls. But every believer is not an evangelist.
