Dispensations in the bible

Dispensations of the bible

(Hebrews 1:1-2 [KJV])
 [1] God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
 [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

During the old testament God spoke unto the fathers through the prophets and then in the new testament he spoke unto us through his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

That divides the bible into two dispensations:

  1. the old testament period when the old testament prophets spoke including Moses and Noah.
  2. the new testament.

Bible verses

1 Corinthians 9:17 (KJV) For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.

Ephesians 1:10 (KJV) That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Ephesians 3:2 (KJV) If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

Colossians 1:25 (KJV) Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Galatians 4:4 (KJV) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Interpretation of bible verses

We see that Paul has been given a dispensation of grace towards the gentiles in Ephesians 3:2 and Colossians 1:25. So we the gentiles are in the dispensation of grace which I believe is the new testament era and Paul is the minister of this to us (Ephesians 3:2).

We also see that there exists something called the dispensation of the fullness of time (Ephesians 1:10). This is the new testament as we can see in Galatians 4:4. So its not Revelation 20 or the last chapters of Revelation. The fullness of time started in the book in the bible called Matthew since it says "God sent forth his Son". So its basically the time period described by the new testament of the king james bible.
