Disciplemattias
Intro
I have used the name Disciplemattias on the internet. The problem with this is what I experienced as oversocialization or continuous attempts of personality reform or referring to me as a person that wasnt me. Basically as disciples we are told to deny ourselves and take up our cross every day.
Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
But this can be driven to the extreme, through false accusations, continuous oversocialization, refusal to accept the individual ever but still keep demanding it to have a relationship with them. Zealous or ernest attempt to improve someones work and to make them get along with everyone on their terms, without ever accepting them as the person they are.
Calling myself disciplemattias on youtube I believe people got a predetermined opinion about how I should behave and be based on the generally accepted definition of a disciple[1][2] and when I didn't live up to it I wondered why I got this problem. Eventually I came to the conclusion that it might not be wise to use the word disciple in your name.
Its actually not biblical to call yourself disciple and then your name. There is no one in the bible named that way and God seems to address his children by their first name, like Lazarus and Paul, not disciple Paul or disciple Lazarus.
Also putting disciple in your name seems to imply somehow that you have an office in society, or a work, or a social contract, like the term priest or pastor does. Now when the churches have become pro-government against individuals it might be negative to with your name become associated with them.
That doesn't mean though that I don't take the writings in the bible about disciples seriously.
