A Covenant with YouTube Becomes a Curse

In the modern world, platforms like YouTube seem like convenient tools for communication, outreach, and even ministry. But for the discerning believer, the spiritual reality behind these platforms demands a much deeper examination. According to Scripture, making a covenant with systems that do not serve the LORD can lead to devastating consequences. This is not only a principle in theory—it is something we have already seen play out, most notably in the life of Alex Jones.

Alex Jones, a high-profile commentator and broadcaster, became famous for his truth-telling stance against globalism, corruption, and deception. Yet despite his intentions, he chose to spread this message using YouTube—a platform owned and governed by Google, a company whose values and operations are spiritually at odds with the God of the Bible. By agreeing to YouTube’s Terms of Service, Jones entered into a binding agreement—a covenant—with a system that can rightly be described as one of the "gods of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4).

This is where the Word of God speaks with frightening clarity:

Exodus 23:32–33 (KJV): "Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee."

When Alex Jones made a covenant with YouTube, he was not just accepting a legal document—he was binding himself to a system governed by anti-Christ values. And what happened? YouTube turned against him, deleted his channel, archived his content, and helped enable the lawsuits that ultimately led to his financial ruin. He was ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion USD in damages, and even his family suffered economically as a result. The covenant he made with the platform became a curse.

This is not unique to Alex Jones. Any believer who uploads biblical or controversial content to YouTube is stepping into the same snare. The believer who accepts YouTube’s Terms of Service is agreeing to abide by community guidelines that censor truth, suppress the gospel, and promote sin. You are, in effect, saying: "I agree to serve in your system, on your terms." That is a spiritual compromise. It is no different from the Israelites being warned not to make peace with the inhabitants of the land.

Joshua 23:12–13 (KJV): "Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations... they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish..."

What God warned Israel about is exactly what believers today are doing when they broadcast on YouTube. They are cleaving to a system they were meant to come out from. They are forging peace with entities God has declared to be hostile. And the result is bondage, censorship, destruction, and often public humiliation.

No weapon formed against the believer shall prosper—if God is with them (Isaiah 54:17). But if you enter into league with the enemy, you forfeit that protection. God will not bless those who use the tools of Satan for the purposes of righteousness.

YouTube is not a neutral platform. It is owned by Google, a company whose leadership, corporate philosophy, and spiritual direction are aligned with the prince of this world. It is not simply risky to partner with such a system—it is disobedience to God's clear command.

Conclusion: Believer, do not make a covenant with Satan. Do not enter into agreement with systems that oppose God. No matter how appealing or useful they may seem, if you make peace with them, they will turn and devour you. Alex Jones is one example, but many others are falling into the same trap. Return to God's command: separate, withdraw, and speak His truth in ways that do not require you to bow to Baal.
