Why prophet

Intro

Some might say you are no prophet.

So let me explain the domain name prophetmattias.com.

Ephesians 4:11 KJV And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

As you can see there are five ministries, in my opinion at least. Like the fingers on your hand.

Like the thumb being the apostle. The Apostle has all ministries, that is he is a teacher, a prophet, an evangelist and a pastor.

There is another place in the new testament talking about gifts.

(I Corinthians 12:27-31 [KJV])
 [27] Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
 [28] And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
 [29] Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
 [30] Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
 [31] But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

But I see this more as related to congregations.

Ministries are solo things. Its what someone can do solo with or without a congregation.

So lets say you have to choose one of the five, prophet, teacher, pastor, apostle or evangelist. You have to choose one and every believer that is saved is one of these 5, whether they walk in it or not, they have been given the option or the ability to function in one of these 5 ministries.

Now to go into more detail about the prophet. In my humble opinion the term prophet is used the wrong way on the internet. Basically if you are a prophet then you must be like Isaiah or Jeremiah or some other old testament prophet or like the two witnesses. So they put enormous demands on the ministry of the prophet but they dont put the same demands on the other ministries.

This way the ministry of the prophet has been forgotten.

I have met many christians in my time as a believer who could fit into the idea of having the ministry of the prophet.

Today basically there are evangelists and pastors and the other people are just believers. There might be some teachers too. But not much of prophets.

I think of it this way. The teacher and the prophet are the hard ministries while the evangelist and the pastor are the soft ministries.

Pastor and evangelist require people skills while teacher and prophet are more squared hard headed ministries.

So what are the signs of a ministry of a prophet.

Someone looking at the signs of the times, like end times signs or whatever. Someone that is into spiritual warfare. Someone that tends to not talk much but when he says something it comes from God. Someone who claims to have a personal direct relationship with God.

I think these could be signs of a prophet.

So it doesn't have to be someone that is recognized by the masses or even by the believers as a prophet.

Today its all about being either a pastor or an evangelist. There is a lot of psychic driving going on about all this and everyone is supposed to be under a pastor or be evangelizing. You cannot enter a church without some pastor starts hovering over you.

So above I have tried to explain the idea to people who say you cannot be a prophet if you dont do this or that etc.

Its not about if you are a prophet or not. Look instead on it as if you have to choose one of the 5 ministries, then which one do you choose.

I think it could be a bit different for people who are active in a congregation. Here I am talking more about solo individuals when I speak about these 5 ministries.
