Scribe:Disciple
Definition
The first occurance of Disciple in the bible is actually in the old testament.
(Isaiah 8:16 [KJV]) Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
We see in Isaiah 8:16 the word disciple. So a disciple is someone that has the law sealed in him. Written upon his heart.
Isaiah 8:16 is the only occurrence of disciple in the old testament. The other occurrences of disciple in the bible are in Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts.
(Revelation of John 12:17 [KJV]) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
We can see that Rev 12:17 basically contain the same things as Isaiah 8:16. That is testimony and Moses law. So basically its the disciples talked about in Rev 12:17. Also notice that the dragon, that is satan, goes after the disciples. This is why disciples face so much persecution.
(II Timothy 3:12 [KJV]) Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
New Testament
(John 6:68 [KJV]) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
A disciple is a someone that believes in The lord Jesus Christ (John 6:68).
(Acts 19:9 [KJV]) But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
We can also see in Acts 19:9 that the disciples are separated from non believers and from those that speak evil of the way before the multitude.
John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
All men know you are Jesus disciples if you have love one to another. But of course you can be a secret disciple.
