Intro

Satans seat is a phrase mentioned in the bible.

Scripture

(Revelation of John 1:4-11 [KJV])
 [4] John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
[5] And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
[6] And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
[7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
[8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
[9] I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
[10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
[11] Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
Revelation CHAP. II.
What is commaunded to bee written to the Angels, that is, the Ministers of the Churches of 1 Ephesus, 8 Smyrna, 12 Pergamus, 18 Thyatira: and what is commended, or found wanting in them.
Revelation 2:12-13
12 And to the Angel of the Church in Pergamos, write, These things saith hee, which hath the sharpe sword with two edges:
13 I know thy workes, and where thou dwellest, euen where Satans seat is, and thou holdest fast my Name, and hast not denied my faith, euen in those daies, wherein Antipas was my faithful Martyr, who was slaine among you, where Satan dwelleth.
Revelation CHAP. XIII.
1 A beast riseth out of the sea with seuen heads and ten hornes, to whom the dragon giueth his power. 11 Another beast commeth vp out of the earth: 14 causeth an image to be made of the former beast, 15 and that men should worship it, 16 and receiue his marke.
Revelation 13:2 KJV
[2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Interpretations

Assuming then that the dragon mentioned in Rev 13:2 is Satan mentioned in Rev 2:13 we conclude that the beast of Rev 13:2 will rule from Pergamos mentioned in Rev 2:12, which also is called Pergamus in the chapter summary of Revelation 2.

Some people believe that this letter to the church of Pergamos is not a future prophecy but rather something that happened in the first century. Other people believe that this is part of a future prophecy.

So where is Pergamos/Pergamus?

Turkey

Some people would claim that it is Pergamum in Turkey. This is the established opinion among Christians.

The problem with this interpretation is that Pergamum is not located by the sea.

(Revelation of John 13:1-2 [KJV])
[1] And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
[2] And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

If satan gave the beast satans seat and the beast rises out of the sea, shouldnt satans seat be located by the sea? Pergamon in Turkey is located 26 km from the sea[1].

Cyprus

But some others would say that it is Pergamus on Cyprus.

Something that speaks against that Pergamus is on Cypris is Revelation 1:11 where it says that Pergamos is in Asia.

(Revelation of John 1:11 [KJV]) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Now what is Asia. Its referring to Asia minor. Now Asia minor seems to be mainland turkey not cyprus[2].

Pergamus in Cyprus is located about 7.5 km from the sea so it fits a bit better with Revelation 13:1-2. Since Pergamon in Turkey is located 26 km from the sea which is a longer distance.

Crete

But it could also be Pergamus on Crete.

But Crete is not part of Asia Minor. They seem to believe that it was located at Ag. Eirini, Grimbiliana[3].
