Intro

When is the last day?

(John 6:54 [KJV]) Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

Both the lost (John 12:48) and the saved (John 11:24) are raised up at the last day. For this to work out scripturally the last day is either the period from the first resurrection including the millennium to and including the white throne judgement or the last day is the 8th day and all both lost and saved are raised up at the white throne judgement or the very last day of this world which would then be the 24 hours at the white throne judgement.

The last day as the 7th day

Jesus promises to raise them up at the last day. When is the last day. Its the seventh day (Revelation 20). The blessed are raised up at the first resurrection to reign with Christ during the Millennium.

(John 12:48 [KJV]) He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

The unbelievers are raised up during the end of the last day at the white throne judgement.

(John 6:44 [KJV]) No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
(Psalms 90:4 [KJV]) For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
(II Peter 3:8 [KJV]) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

A thousand years is as a day to the lord.

Day 1: Old testament

Day 2: Old testament

Day 3: Old testament

Day 4: Old testament

Day 5: New testament

Day 6: New testament

Day 7: Millenium (Revelation 20)

Eternity (Revelation 21,Revelation 22).

(John 6:39-40 [KJV])
[39] And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
[40] And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
(John 11:23-27 [KJV])
[23] Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
[24] Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
[25] Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
[26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
[27] She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

One thing that supports the argument that the 7th day is the last day is that God created the world in 7 days (Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 2:3). So it seems like the last day is the 7th day which is then like a thousand years which is then the following period:

  1. The seventh day
    1. the first resurrection
    2. the millenium
    3. the white throne judgement

The last day as the 8th day

A thousand years is as a day to the lord.

Day 1: Old testament

Day 2: Old testament

Day 3: Old testament

Day 4: Old testament

Day 5: New testament

Day 6: New testament

Day 7: Millenium (Revelation 20)

Day 8: Eternity (Revelation 21,Revelation 22).

All both lost and saved are raised up at the white throne judgement which then is the beginning of the 8th day, a day that lasts forever.

In ancient times, the eighth day of the Feast of Tabernacles was called the “Last Good Day.”[1]

The last day of this world

(Matthew 12:30-32 [KJV])
[30] He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
[31] Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
[32] And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

We can see in Matthew 12:32 that Jesus talks about this world and then about the world to come. Now this world ends at the white throne judgement and then the world to come comes after the white throne judgement.

So maybe you could claim that the last day of this world is when the white throne judgement happens. Last 24 hours, literal day, rather than a day as a thousand years.

(Revelation of John 20:11 [KJV]) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
(Revelation of John 21:1 [KJV]) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

So it would be the time period maybe then 24 hours between Rev 20:11 and Rev 21:1. The time period between when the earth and the heaven fled away until a new earth and a new heaven is seen.

This would mean that both the lost and all new testament saved are raised up at the white throne judgement.
