| Some people state that new testament prophets are not like the old testament prophets they are preachers, claiming that basically the new testament prophet has been replaced by the word preacher rather than the word prophet. | | Some people claim that New testament prophets are preachers. That is not true. Evangelists are preachers. They preach the gospel. Prophets are distinct from evangelist. |
| {{ PreB |
| |
| (I Corinthians 14:32 [KJV]) And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.}}
| |
| As you can see the spirit of the new testament prophet is subject to the old testament prophets. So its not a new kind of prophet. Though since the new testament prophets exist after the crucifixition of the lord Jesus Christ and after the ministry of Paul, the new testament prophet, even though subject to the old testament prophets might have a slightly different slant on things based on Paul and Jesus teachings.
| |
| | |
| But the statement that a prophet of the new testament has to be a preacher is not supported by scripture.
