Reuealed them vnto babes
Intro
Luke CHAP. X.
1 Christ sendeth out at once, seuenty disciples to worke miracles, and to preach: 17 Admonisheth them to be humble, and wherin to reioyce: 21 Thanketh his father for his grace: 23 Magnifieth the happy estate of his Church: 25 Teacheth the Lawyer, how to attaine eternall life, and to take euery one for his neighbour, that needeth his mercy: 41 Reprehendeth Martha, and commendeth Mary her sister.
Luke 10
17 ¶ And the seuenty returned againe with ioy, saying, Lord, euen the deuils are subiect vnto vs through thy name.
18 And he said vnto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heauen.
19 Behold, I giue vnto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and ouer all the power of the enemie: and nothing shall by any meanes hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this reioyce not, that the spirits are subiect vnto you: but rather reioyce, because your names are written in heauen.
21 ¶ In that houre Iesus reioyced in spirit, and said, I thanke thee, O father, Lord of heauen and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast reuealed them vnto babes: euen so father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are deliuered to me of my father: and no man knoweth who the sonne is, but the father: and who the father is, but the sonne, and he to whom the sonne will reueale him.
23 ¶ And he turned him vnto his disciples, and said priuately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that yee see.
24 For I tell you, that many Prophets, and kings haue desired to see those things which yee see, and haue not seene them: & to heare those things which yee heare, and haue not heard them.
Revealed unto babes, not unto the wise and prudent.
Have you noticed that these wise and prudent dont cast out unclean spirits. It has not been revealed by God the Father unto them.
Matthew CHAP. XI.
2 Iohn sendeth his disciples to Christ. 7 Christs testimonie concerning Iohn. 18 The opinion of the people, both concerning Iohn, and Christ. 20 Christ vpbraideth the vnthankfulnesse, and vnrepentance of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum: 25 and praising his fathers wisedome in reueiling the Gospel to the simple, 28 hee calleth to him all such as feele the burden of their sinnes.
Matthew 11
20 ¶ Then began he to vpbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.
21 Woe vnto thee Chorazin, woe vnto thee Bethsaida: for if the mightie workes which were done in you, had bene done in Tyre and Sidon, they would haue repented long agoe in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say vnto you, It shall bee more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.
23 And thou Capernaum, which art exalted vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: For if the mighty works which haue beene done in thee, had bin done in Sodome, it would haue remained vntil this day.
24 But I say vnto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, in þe day of iudgment, then for thee.
25 ¶ At that time Iesus answered, and said, I thanke thee, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things frō the wise & prudent, & hast reueiled them vnto babes.
26 Euen so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are deliuered vnto me of my father: and no man knoweth the sonne but the father: neither knoweth any man the father, saue the sonne, and hee to whomsoeuer the sonne will reueile him.
We see also in Matthew 11 that rejecting Jesus Christ is much more serious than rejecting Moses. Seeing the comparison of Capernaum and Sodom. And this has been revealed unto babes but not unto the wise and prudent (Mt11:25).
So the wise and prudent will not cast out unclean spirits and they will condemn fornicators, but it is because the Father has not called them.
