Continuationism
Intro
I believe that continuationism is true regarding the interpretation of the bible.
I believe that we are living in the period after Jesus resurrection and before Jesus second coming and that the spiritual gifts have not ended.
Cessationists believe that the spiritual gifts have ended.
That means that it is still today possible for a born against believer in the lord Jesus Christ to cast out unclean spirits.
(Luke 10:18-22 [KJV])
[18] And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
[19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
[20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
[21] In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
[22] All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
I believe also that healings occur today. That doesn't mean that God heals everything. So I believe that all spiritual gifts are around today.
(Matthew 9:29 [KJV]) Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
A person that believes in Cessationism is not going to pray for healing. He or she is not going to cast out unclean spirits of those that trouble him. So he or she is not going to benefit then from these gifts.
That also means that I believe prophets exist today, since prophets do occur in the new testament era and we are still living in it. For example there are prophets in Acts. I dont believe prophets are preachers or evangelists in the new testament era. I believe they are prophets, just like they were in the old testament era.
(I Corinthians 14:32 [KJV]) And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
