Intro

Some people say I cannot be a prophet of God.

Walked in the commandments of God

Some of these people refer to a lack of walking in the commandments of God and therefore think that I cannot be a prophet of God.

Let me remind you that God calls human beings who are not perfect and make mistakes. Look at Jonah, King Saul, Solomon, Samson and even though some do not consider Balaam a prophet of God but a diviner, God did talk to him.

So these discussions of that I have not walked well enough in the commandments of God is likely said by self righteous hypocrites who don't know God. We are all human beings.

No prophets in the new testament era

Some people claim that I cannot be a prophet of God because there are no prophets during the new testament era.

But the new testament is full of prophets. For example look at John the Baptist, Agabus, the daughers of Philip the evangelist, Paul and prophets in Acts 13:1.

(Acts 13:1 [KJV]) Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

No prophets now

Some people believe that prophets existed in the early church of the new testament era but not now. These people likely hold to the cessationist view rather than the continuationist view of spiritual gifts. But cessationism is not proven by the scripture. Its just a theological interpretation of scripture.

NT prophets are preachers

Some people claim that New testament prophets are preachers. That is not true. Evangelists are preachers. They preach the gospel. Prophets are distinct from evangelists.

Recommendeth himself

Some people claim that I cannot be a true prophet unless someone else recommends me.[1] This could be seen as based on the idea that two witnesses for something to be established.[2] But Jesus was accused of the same thing by the pharisees in John 8. So that doesn't disprove that I am a true prophet of God.

Prophets are charismaniacs

Some claim that prophets today tend to be of the Neo-charismatic movement and they say this in a derogatory way insinuating that these so called prophets are not prophets of God. But just because a movement has a lot of people in it claiming to be prophets of God does not invalidate that there can exist real prophets of God today.
