It is not a label others can confirm or deny for us. It is not meant for exhibition. Salvation is a private matter between the soul and God, witnessed in the quiet fruits of one’s walk, not in noise, argument, or performance.

The modern tendency to turn spiritual matters into public debates—especially around who is saved and who is not—mirrors the dangerous patterns of religious persecution from ages past. The Dark Ages were marked by inquisitions, accusations of heresy, and the torturing of those who dared to speak against the religious system. There are documented accounts of people who were flogged, imprisoned, or executed simply for denying the salvation or spiritual legitimacy of others.

This spirit has not vanished—it has changed form. While physical torture may be less common in many places, social punishment, slander, legal threats, and surveillance often take its place. And just as in the past, those who expose false conversions or speak against accepted forms of religious authority often become targets. It is not righteousness that is rewarded, but conformity.

There is a difference between spiritual discernment and public condemnation. The former is done in the Spirit, with grief, truth, and quiet resolve. The latter is often done in pride, in spectacle, and with a desire to dominate. The believer who sees someone is lost may speak truth once, but not return to the arena to fight over it. Truth does not beg to be accepted. It simply is.

History shows that some of the worst violence arose not from atheists or pagans, but from the religious authorities who believed they were defending the faith. But in reality, they were defending their own power, their image, their status. Those who walk with God know the difference. They are not driven to accuse, label, or expose others constantly. They fear God, not men.

Those who seek public confrontation over salvation issues—demanding debates, pushing others to confess according to their formula, labeling others as false or damned—often reveal by their very behavior that they themselves may not have experienced the saving grace of God. For those who are truly saved, there is peace. There is a hiding in God, not a parading before men. There is quietness, not compulsion.

This is why real believers often step away from platforms of spectacle. They recognize that the fruit of the Spirit is not found in drama, but in meekness and faith. They realize that once you leave the arena, the silence that follows is not a loss, but a revelation—that the supposed fellowship was never real to begin with. It was never built on the Spirit, but on performance.

The true church is not loud. It is not on display. It is not seeking to win arguments. It is walking with Christ in the Spirit, whether seen or unseen. And that is the witness that endures.
